Animal, vegetable and mineral aromas in perfumery

There are as many interpretations as there are noses.

It’s been a while since we’ve shared a film from inside the studio, so here’s a new one. Join Sarah, Arthur, James and Johnny as they talk about animal, vegetable and mineral aromas in perfumery, and ask the possibly not so simple question: what is a mineral smell?

Along the way they smell and discuss materials including Lily Bell, rose oxide, aldehydes, helional, geosmin and atar mitti, and explore how connections and memories shape what we think we’re smelling.

Watch the film below.
