All The Fruit: A fruity fragrance turned on its head to experiment in ultimate fruitiness. Made with buchu essential oil which smells halfway between blackcurrant and spearmint, and is used to flavour wine gums. It’s all your childhood sweets in one scent (especially if you were brought up in the UK).

Amber Takes Violet to the Woods: Amber is in charge, but Violet gives as good as it gets. The woods are cedar and amyris with some mint and blood orange sprinkled in as the overture.

Amber Woods: Just a decent, simple amber woods fragrance. The woods are cedar, amyris and sandalwood with a touch of vanilla, and amber molecules form the scented clouds which give it strength.

Calabrian Sunrise: Kumquat, mandora, petitgrain, lemongrass and bergamot sparkling at the top with classic floral notes at the heart and both light and dark musks at the base.

Le Chambre au Champ: After having to classify around 500 fragrances for their book, Sarah decided that the world of scent needed another category, the Chambre = chypre + amber. Le Chambre au Champ smells of wildflowers with oakmoss, bergamot, dark patchouli, vanillin, tonka and a hint of cantaloupe melon.

Chozelnut: A vanilla, toffee and hazelnut perfume which smells a bit like Nutella on malt loaf.

Citrus Soprano: A citrus scent for winter, designed to wake us up on chilly grey mornings when we’d rather be hibernating. It’s named Soprano because it hits the top notes (not its enemies). Cedrat, kumquat and yuzu lead the way with lavender and fennel singing alto.

Cover Story: The aroma of a London allotment, home to a family of foxes, many herbs and vegetables and hay bales with jasmine, roses and geraniums growing around the borders. The name? Well, this is the fragrance to wear to pretend you’ve been gardening when really you were Up To No Good!

Free From Sandalwood: The name is a light jest, a reference to all the daft labelling like “free from parabens” when parabens are 1) useful preservatives and 2) never used in perfume anyway. This is a sandalwood fragrance which doesn’t have any sandalwood in it!

Further Fern: An old style, definitive fougère (fern) of the early 20^th Century, for everyone to wear. Coumarin, bergamot, lavender, geranium and oakmoss with patchouli, vetiver and sandalwood, musks and vanilla.

Marmalade Sun: Musks were added to a simple, bright blend of citrus materials and Virginian cedar.

Mid-Century Midwinter: Sarah’s childhood Decembers in the middle of the 20^th Century. Boxes of liqueur chocolates and mandarin oranges, which in those times were seasonal.

Modern Office: Sarah was making leather fragrances the month she was invited to visit Paul Smith’s office in Covent Garden. A reconstruction of the polished floors, leather chairs, good coffee, hundreds of books and a couple of bicycles.

The One That I Want: A rose, raspberry, blackcurrant and chocolate scent inspired by the one bottle of Lynx Sarah McCartney in existence, made for a bespoke perfume research project.

Passion & Purity: The wonderful smell of a rosebush gifted by one of our longtime customers. It bloomed an amazing pink that turns to mauve, then more blue as it ages, with hundreds of narrow petals packed into each flower.

Patch It Up: The beginning of this fragrance is an accord named “smoky blokey” – a kind of fougère with lavender, coumarin and vetiver and then Sarah added patchouli until I decided it’d reached its reasonable limit.

The Plains: The unusual smell of goldenrod from Canada with rose, a light waft of violets and lilies, freshwater and cut grass. The aroma of Canadian open spaces.

Post Modern Ice Cream Parlour: The smell of an ice cream shop that would serve very unusual flavours, not a chocolate or strawberry or salted caramel. Instead, we have lavender, tonka, melon sorbet and unsweetened pistachio. 

Rainforest Jasmine: A tobacco jasmine sun at its centre and set in a green forest with dappled sunlight making bright white patches past almost fluorescently green leaves, contrasting with the darkness of the damp, mossy ground.

Slow Foxtrot: A lipstick scent with violets, rose, citruses and a stash of deep sensuous balsams.

Surprise Me:

Wishful Thinking: This fragrance and its name were inspired by the requests we get from aspiring brand owners who want a perfume which will make them (and all their customers) irresistible to everyone. If it’s possible, this fir needle and cacao absolute amber should do the trick. Almost definitely.

You Made Me: A mildly gourmand fragrance with woods, citrus fruits, rose and a little candyfloss.
