This is a 4160Tuesdays style tea scent, and what better way to enjoy tea than with a biscuit? We made it in honour of our "new" home, our Hammersmith studio, where we took up residence in 2019, way before all these other biscuitry fragrances started popping up.

Wholemeal with lemon zest, a pinch of ginger and cinder toffee chips, dunked in black tea with oatmilk. This is technically a gourmand fragrance, but it's not one of those party-time candyfloss overloads; the bran absolute and black tea keep it grounded in a calm afternoon tea friendliness.

We think of it as the symbol of British problem-solving and friendship, dedicated to London W6 and the rest of the world.

All of our fragrances have a story. Here is the story of Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits:

We moved to our Hammersmith studio in September 2019, and our perfumer, Sarah, wanted to honour the London Borough which became our new home. She made a collection of fragrances, of which Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits was the first. Two others were Court of Ravens and Brackenbury.

Hammersmith is on the River Thames, home to the Apollo, two tube stations with the same name, and a wide and varied range of people and eating places, and we all muddle along together.

She made Tea & Biscuits as a symbol of the British way of making friends and getting through a crisis, which Hammersmith seems to epitomise. The biscuits featured are wholemeal lemon and ginger with toasted hazelnuts. The tea is black, with oat milk.

It was almost finished when our friend, philosopher/perfumer/walking-perfumery-encyclopedia Harry Sherwood came to visit, bringing some brilliant biscuit accords of his own. He suggested adding our bran absolute to give it more fibre, and so it was complete.

We like to wear Hammersmith Tea & Biscuits to remind us to offer empathy and friendship. Let’s see past our differences and enjoy a nice cup of tea and biscuits together.

This fragrance was made in 2019, several years before other baked goods fragrances blanketed the world of perfume. If you want to be ahead of the curve, come to the Indie perfumers before niche brands catch up.
