Perfume is for everyone, and now perfume making can be too. Join our one day scent making workshop with 4160Tuesdays’ perfumer, Sarah McCartney, for a lovely day of smell training and fragrance blending. And leave with your very own handmade perfume.

Where we’ll be

Upstairs at our Hammersmith studio, we have a dedicated workshop room, which we also use for writing and filming. It's the room in which Arthur and Sarah make all our YouTube perfume making films. Here, we hold our small group workshops.

What you’ll do

You can choose from a selection of professional materials used in classic and modern perfumery. The group will be guided through techniques to improve your smelling abilities and how to blend a fragrance you’ll be happy to wear.

We specialise in sustainably produced and biodegradable materials, both natural and synthetic.

You'll smell a range of our ingredients, learn how to blend them, and get as much help and guidance as you need from 4160Tuesdays' owner and artisan perfumer, Sarah McCartney.

Important notes

• Age: This is a class for adults. Our studio is a workspace and is not insured for children to be present. We can accept bookings for ages 15+. Thank you.
• Accessibility: Our classes are in an old building, held in the upstairs studio accessible via a narrow staircase with no handrail. If you need special arrangements, please let us know before you book.

The day – What to expect at our fragrance making workshop

We open the studio at 12:30 to start at 1 p.m. with our introductory chat. Some people travel a long way to get here, so we allow time for delays and settling in. 

We all smell a carefully chosen range of perfumery materials, and the nose break is around 4 p.m., followed by finalising blends.

The session includes all materials and equipment.

The finished formulas are yours to keep and use; so when someone says, “Wow, you smell fab,” you can reply, “Oh, this? I made it myself.” And if you'd like to order more of your fragrance, simply photograph it, and we'll make it up for you.

Who it’s for

This class is a lovely day out, suitable for beginners as well as those who want to take their journey into perfumery further.

Cancelling – Ts & Cs

We realise that things crop up that people weren't planning for.

• If you cancel 30 days or more before your workshop, we will refund you completely.
• If you cancel between 14 and 28 days beforehand, we will move you to a later date.
• If you cancel within 14 days, you can pass your seat on to someone else, or you can spend the money on our perfume. Fair’s fair.
