Artisan Perfumery Autumn School 2020 - Part 1 The essentials
Five days of artisan Scenthusiasm(TM) 26 - 30 October 2020
A workbook, films and live online sessions: 26 - 30 August 2020:
This year we ran our Summer School remotely. It went pretty well, so now we're going to repeat it for autumn.
We work on the same formulas. We send you a kit of our own materials already diluted in professional quality organic grain ethanol, so you can also continue your perfume practice after the week is over. If you don't need our materials and kit, you can book without them.
our new 32 page workbook
access to short, clear videos, which you can watch as many times as you like.
daily Zoom sessions
Last booking dates to take part in the live Zoom sessions: As we're sending out kits, our cut off for bookings is 10th October 2020.
If you don't need a kit, you can book right up to 25th October 2020.
If you have perfumery materials of your own the cost is £440 for the week.
What you'll do:
Smell materials, naturals and synthetics, and learn how to blend them, and how to structure a scent so that it smells like a genuine fragrance.
Discover a range of perfume styles and what goes into them.
Create accords, and finished fragrances.
Dates: Monday 26th to Friday 30th October 2020
Monday: appreciating fragrance types, and testing your materials
Tuesday: scent structure - how to balance an accord
Wednesday: it's not just about the aroma: understanding textures
Thursday: creating two new fragrances
Friday: creative blending day
We've been running 4160Tuesdays for eight years now, and in that time we've been voted Independent House of of Year 2015 by EauMG and Indie House of the Year 2017 and perfume of the year 2018 by CaFleureBon. Dirty Honey won EauMG Indie Scent of the Year 2016, New York '55 was second in the Stylist Best Beauty Awards 2016, Maxed Out, Midnight in the Palace Garden and Mother Nature's Naughty Daughters have been shortlisted in the Fragrance Foundation Awards. In 2020 Meet Me On The Corner was a Pure Beauty indie fragrance award finalist.
Why tell you this? Because despite being industry mavericks, we're doing something right, and we truly love to share everything we know with people who want to like to learn new things.
In 2018 we decided to open up the studio for a week in August for people who'd like to come over and make scents the way we do it, and to explore their own methods too; it's sold out twice now, so we're doing it again, but now we've adapted it with a workbook, online videos and daily Zoom sessions with Sarah.
The Materials List: we have diluted our own professional materials in organic grain alcohol so you don't have to. We buy TSDA, as we have a license from HMRC so it'sbetter quality than hobbyist ethanol.
The ones you need most of are in 30ml bottles, very expensive ones are in 5ml bottles and the in between ones are in 10mls. They are diluted according to their impact.
