Five more days of artisan Scenthusiasm(TM) - a focus on materials
Owing to the way of the world, this will now be online, rather than in Hammersmith. We shall send out kits of materials and formulas to work on as a group, and get together by Zoom to chat about our creations.
24 - 28 August 2020 - Week 2
The follow on from Week 1 for people who have experience making their own fragrances. Five specialist days for exploring materials in depth. We'll smell and use naturals and synthetics, single aromachemicals and blends.
Monday: Florals, including those that don't smell much like flowers, and how to use them in other fragrance types.
Tuesday: Woods, naturals and aromachemicals, and where they fit in perfumery.
Wednesday: Fruits: from top the base notes, citrus, red fruits and soft fruits, naturals and fruity aromachemicals
Thursday: Herbs & Spices: leaves and seeds plus balsamic base notes.
Friday: Requests, and materials you rarely smell outside a perfume lab.
As in week 1, you will:
Smell materials, naturals and synthetics, and blend them.
Compare perfume styles and what goes into them.
Explore The Wall of Scent, our collection of vintage and modern fragrances from many other perfumers, so you can smell to your heart's content.
Use our professional materials to create accords, and finished fragrances.
Learn how to create by weight, dilute your materials for your experiments and record your formulas accurately.
Quiz us about the realities of running a small business.
Take your blends home with you.
We may have single days available, but we're giving priority to people who'd like to do all five, mostly so we avoid repeating ourselves.
