The original sensual 1960s French perfume that stormed America
There's a new version of Bal a Versailles which isn't bad at all, but the original is a wonder to behold. It's one of those scents whose mythology insists had over 300 ingredients. It might be true, but that's not really important. What is amazing is that such a down and dirty, deep mossy scent was ever such a hit with the squeaky clean post war housewives of the USA.
You just have to give it a sniff. Be warned though, it might remind you of your gran in her glory days.
